I have this theory, that one way the bad guys have an advantage is that they make things complicated and boring-sounding to hide the fact that they're taking advantage of us.

My guess is that the enormous changes lurking in GATS and the other trade deals have come about not because most citizens in the world believe in the importance of private profit-making above all else. I suspect, on the contrary, that it's because most people have little knowledge of what these trade deals are all about—they think they're about trade.
